Mob reportedly beats woman to death over alleged witchcraft in Delta (Photo)

A middle-aged woman has been allegedly beaten to death by a mob in Delta state after she was accused of engaging in witchcraft.

According to the source, the woman identified as Chukwuwezu was beaten to death last weekend at Mbiri Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state.

While speaking to Ika Weekly Newspaper, a source in the community condemned the mob action, saying that the killing of the woman was instigated by one Mr. Chukwuekwu.

It was gathered that while the mob was beating the woman on their way to the Palace, a Police Constabulary tried to stop them to avoid killing the woman in the palace since the Obi was not at home.

According to the eyewitness, the said Mr. Chukwuekwu, who is already in Police custody after he attacked a Police Constabulary, had caused much havoc in Mbiri and its environs.

The eyewitness beating the woman to death was unacceptable and barbaric as there was no physical proof to accuse her of.

The body of the late woman who was at the market square has been removed and deposited in the mortuary, while the investigation continues.
