Manchester United players forced to hold meeting after defeat

Manchester United players reportedly held a clear-the-air meeting following their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday. Luke Shaw, the left-back of the Red Devils, revealed that the squad held the meeting without any staff present in the changing room.

The defeat saw Joe Willock and Callum Wilson score for Newcastle United, resulting in a famous win at St James’ Park. The victory meant that Newcastle replaced United in third place.

Shaw spoke candidly about the team’s performance, admitting that it was not good enough. He stated that the players had to take responsibility for the result and acknowledge their shortcomings. He also stressed the importance of fighting for each other on the pitch, something that had been lacking at times during the season.

“The players had a chat in the changing room after with no staff around because ultimately it’s down to us players on the pitch,” said Shaw. “It was nowhere near good enough and we had to speak and own up to it. When we go out on that pitch we all need to fight for each other and sometimes this season it hasn’t been like that.”

The meeting shows that the players are aware of the need to improve their performances and work together as a team. Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back in their next game and put in a more convincing display.
