Manchester United eyeing Midfield signing to support Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund’s arrival at Manchester United last summer for a staggering £72 million has seen mixed performances on the field. Despite netting six goals across various competitions, his impact in the Premier League remains limited, with just one goal to his name.

In a bid to aid Hojlund’s adaptation and boost their midfield strength, United is reportedly considering a move for his former Atalanta teammate, 24-year-old midfielder Ederson.

The Brazilian made a £12 million switch from Salernitana to Atalanta in the same window Hojlund arrived from Copenhagen in 2022.

Ederson has had a notable season, featuring 23 times for Atalanta and scoring five goals. Notably, he began his career at Deportivo Brasil, a club formerly associated with United in South America.

Contacts have allegedly been initiated between United and Ederson’s representatives, with discussions surrounding a potential transfer underway. Sources suggest that the club is diligently assessing the situation, indicating the likelihood of progress in the near future.

The potential move for Ederson could be part of United’s strategic planning for potential departures.

Speculation links 31-year-old Casemiro with a move to Saudi Arabia, hinting at a possible exit this summer after a disappointing season. Additionally, with Christian Eriksen also in the same age bracket and a need for a replacement on the horizon, securing a new midfielder seems imminent.

This move could be among the early recruitment tasks within Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s upcoming INEOS structure at Manchester United. Meanwhile, in recent transfer developments, Donny van de Beek has joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan, with an option for a permanent £12 million move.

Sergio Reguilon has returned to Tottenham Hotspur after United triggered the break clause in his season-long loan, and Jadon Sancho is reportedly nearing a return to Borussia Dortmund.
