Man United's Antony jets off to England to face his 'enemies'

Manchester United and its players never seem to be out of the spotlight  as Antony is set to return to England to face his accusers.

In the latest development surrounding the allegations of domestic abuse against Manchester United star Antony, reports confirm that the Brazilian winger is en-route to England to cooperate with police investigations.

Antony’s return comes after his former lover, Gabriella Cavallin, accused him of assaulting her in a Manchester hotel on January 15.

Antony had been granted a leave of absence by the Premier League club earlier this month to address the allegations, and recent images shared by The Sun show him at Sao Paulo airport on Tuesday night, preparing to board flights to Spain and then Manchester.

According to sources, Antony intends to meet with the police in the coming days to vehemently deny the allegations made against him.

He is said to be fully committed to cooperating with the authorities, including providing access to his mobile phone, as he seeks to clear his name and put the matter behind him.

The source stated,

“Antony is adamant he has done nothing wrong and wants to sit down with officers and let them ask him questions. He has nothing to hide and will hand over anything they want to see, including his mobile phone.

“He wants to be exonerated as quickly as possible so he can get on with his football career again without any distractions.”

The images from Tuesday evening depict the 23-year-old footballer at the Brazilian airport with a suitcase and two smaller cabin bags as he embarks on his journey back to England.

Notably, Manchester United did not suspend Antony during his leave of absence, and he continued to receive his full pay. However, the serious nature of the allegations has garnered significant attention.

Antony is currently facing accusations from three women. Gabriella Cavallin, his ex-girlfriend, alleges that he assaulted her on four separate occasions.

Additionally, two other women, law student Rayssa de Freitas and banker Ingrid Lana, have come forward in Brazil with similar claims of aggressive behavior.

Antony previously issued a statement in response to the allegations, stating,

“I have agreed with Manchester United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me. This was a mutual decision to avoid distraction to my teammates and unnecessary controversy for the club.”

He continued,

“I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, and I will fully cooperate with the police to help them reach the truth. I look forward to returning to play as soon as possible.”
