"It is difficult to understand how we could have done it" -- Guardiola

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola may be secretly ruing missed points versus Chelsea, but it could have been worse if not for a certain player in his squad.

Pep Guardiola following the 1-1 draw against their West London rivals, has lauded Rodri as the premier midfielder in the world currently, highlighting the Spaniard’s versatility and pivotal role in the team’s success.

“All the highlights have to be for the guys up front who score goals and make assists and so on,” Guardiola said of the game according to a quote from the club’s website.

In the wake of the midfielder’s impact in saving Manchester City from defeat, Guardiola said of Rodri;

“What a signing. It is difficult to understand how we could have done what we have done in recent years without him.”

In a further statement quoted by Manchester City’s official website, Guardiola emphasized Rodri’s exceptional abilities, stating, “Rodri can do everything… He is the best midfield player in the world currently by far because he is able to do everything.”

Guardiola attributed much of Manchester City’s success in recent years to Rodri’s contributions, underscoring the midfielder’s importance to the team’s tactical setup and overall performance.

The 27-year-old Spanish international joined Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in 2019, and since then, he has become an integral part of Guardiola’s midfield, showcasing his defensive prowess, passing accuracy, and goal-scoring ability.

While acknowledging the significance of goals and assists from attacking players, Guardiola highlighted Rodri’s consistency and impact in crucial moments, emphasizing his ability to influence games both defensively and offensively.
