Arsenal vs. Liverpool: Guardiola only wants to be the happy man

If there was a chance that both Arsenal and Liverpool will both lose today’s clash against each other, Manchester City manager will be all for it with both palms. Hence, the Gunners and the Reds facing off at the Emirates is a game that needs a winner and no loser.

Like Liverpool right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold says of the game, “It’s a must-not-lose, I would say. You have to go there and go get a result – hopefully take the three points.”

Anything less than 3-points, leaves either side ruing missed chances to further the advantage to move up the table. And for Liverpool, they possibly risk a déjà vu situation yet again if they let any point slip while Manchester City is gaining on them with their run of games.

The dilemma of the deep blue sea and the devil it would seem for the two teams involved in the clash at the Emirates. Arsenal are still in the running for the title, Liverpool sit at the top of the table with a 5-point gap; the Gunners can do themselves a favor by cutting the gap down by 3 points if they beat the Reds.

The Reds on the other hand, can extend their lead by 8-points if they emerge the victor.

However, a scenario that bears no favor to either side; Liverpool especially, is to drop points by virtue of a draw. Now this sees Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City smiling to the bank as they can go 1-point top of the table if they win their game in hand.

Tougher times for Liverpool and Arsenal it would seem, and the Manchester City manager only wants a game that leaves him happy this weekend.

A game that makes Pep Guardiola happy, makes everyone, including the Premier League sad.
