Nigerian music sensation Wizkid has stirred controversy with his recent Instagram post, where he advised against being labeled as an afrobeat artist and urged bloggers not to promote his latest album.

Taking to his Instagram account, the acclaimed musician promoted the release of his new album while issuing several cautions to bloggers and fans alike. Notably, Wizkid began by flaunting his wealth and discouraged fans of afrobeat music from downloading his current album.

In a surprising revelation, the “Joro” singer asserted that he does not identify as an afrobeat musician and cautioned against being categorized as such. Furthermore, Wizkid explicitly urged media outlets and bloggers to refrain from sharing his album upon its release.

The post sparked mixed reactions from fans and followers, with some expressing concern over Wizkid’s well-being.

One user, isaacgerald, pleaded for someone to check on him, emphasizing the importance of more than just fame and money in life.

Others, like pretty_tonia1_, expressed loyalty and support for Wizkid’s brand, referencing his affiliation with the “30bg” (30 Billion Gang) and their unwavering dedication to his happiness.

However, not all responses were positive, as kelvinkhiz labeled Wizkid as “truly a kid,” suggesting a lack of maturity in his actions.

Similarly, funkegold humorously compared Wizkid’s behavior to that of indulging in excessive smoking, implying a reckless disregard for consequences.

On a more understanding note, ceejisbae acknowledged Wizkid’s desire to avoid being pigeonholed into a single genre of music, highlighting his versatility and talent beyond afrobeat.
