Popular Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid has expressed “sorrow” about the tough times he went through in 2023.

The Grammy Awards singer took to his Instagram stories on Sunday, saying last year showed him ‘shege’ and he prayed for 2024 to be better for him.

TopNaija gathered that the singer, Wizkid went through a stage of mourning over the death of his mother in 2023. Wizkid’s mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun died on Friday, 18th of August 2023.

He wrote; “23 show me shege! 24 be good to me!.”

Wizkid, the music executive, previously spoke out about how he’s been surviving after losing his mother in August. On October 12, her family organized a funeral ceremony for her, which was attended by a large number of friends and colleagues.

Speaking about life after her death, the Starboy Entertainment founder stated that everything had lost its significance without her.

Wizkid, who was close to his late mother, added that it is sometimes necessary to let go, which is why he would continue to do regardless of how he feels.

The ‘Joro’ crooner wrote; “Made idk days after I lost my mum. Life’s been meaningless! But we dey. Sometimes you got to let everything go… Work with God.”
