He’s Right, I Have Ego—Guardiola Replies Ibrahimovic

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola is not one to trade in banter or engage in war of words with anyone looking to trigger him or earn cheap scores from him like Zlatan Ibrahimovic intended with his criticisms of the Spaniard.

In response to a recent statement written by the Sweden international and AC Milan striker, Ibrahimovic in his book, Guardiola expertly shifts all attention from himself to Zlatan returning the former Barcelona player’s jibe with sarcasm when asked by reporters for a statement.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the striker for AC Milan, recently asserted that Erling Haaland’s advancement at the Etihad hinges on the ego of his manager. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has responded to the Swedish star.

When they were both playing for Barcelona, Ibrahimovic and Guardiola had a falling out over the Swedish player’s exclusion in favor of a developing Lionel Messi.

In his book, the former PSG attacker talked disparagingly about Guardiola, comparing his treatment of him to buying a Ferrari and treating it like a Fiat.

Ibrahimovic claims that Guardiola might obstruct Haaland’s progress at Man City.

Guardiola responded to Ibrahimovic’s remarks by saying that the former Manchester United player was entirely correct.

“He is right, he is completely right,” he said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Fulham on Saturday. “In this club, in this team, my ego is beyond every other person, every player.”

“I don’t like it when Erling scores three goals, and all the highlights are for him. I am so jealous! Honestly, so jealous!

“I said, ‘Erling, please no more goals, otherwise the newspapers won’t talk about me, and just about me’. He is right, he knows me perfectly. He can write another book.”

Talk about a no nonsense manager who is more focused on the result than the narrative, then you have Pep Guardiola.
