Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has called on the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to accept defeat as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collates the results of the presidential election held on Saturday.

Fayose, who belongs to the same party as the Presidential Candidate, advised Atiku to exhibit maturity in accepting defeat and take a break by retiring to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

In a tweet posted on his verified Twitter handle on Monday evening, the Ekiti ex-Governor stated, “Our candidate, H.E. Atiku Abubakar (aka ‘Atiku is coming’) should accept defeat in maturity and retire peacefully to Dubai. At this juncture, may I say good night and good bye to all you represent.”

It is important to note that INEC is yet to announce the winner of the election, and collation is still ongoing. Atiku has won some states in the results released so far, but he is currently trailing the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
