Charles Inojie breaks hearts with latest announcement

The Johnsons’ Charles Inojie breaks hearts with latest announcement as he confirms he comic role as Mr. Lucky Johnson on the popular Nigerian TV series will be coming to an end after 13 seasons on Africa Magic.

The series, which revolved around the trials and tribulations of an average Nigerian family in Lagos, captured the hearts of viewers with its relatable storylines and lovable characters. Inojie, portraying the patriarch Mr. Lucky Johnson, took to Instagram to share the bittersweet news with fans on Monday.

“After 13 years of absolute magic, 13 years of awesomeness, 13 years of being Africa’s most-watched show on television, 13 years of being every family’s favorite, ‘The Johnsons’ is finally taking a bow,” announced Inojie.

Inojie’s character, a scientist known for his eccentricity and unconventional vocabulary, added depth and humor to the series. His journey from a spendthrift to a renowned scientist, credited with the creation of Jedimaicin, a cure for “jedijedi,” was a highlight of the show’s narrative.

Expressing gratitude to the cast, crew, and loyal fans across the African continent, Inojie acknowledged the immense support that contributed to the show’s success over the years.

“I thank my co-travelers, the wonderful team of cast and crew, without whom these past 13 years could not have been spectacularly outstanding as ‘The Johnsons’ made it,” he said.

Throughout its run, “The Johnsons” featured a talented ensemble cast, including the late Ada Ameh, who portrayed Mrs. Johnson, as well as Kunle Bamtefa, Chinedu Ikedieze, and others, contributing to its widespread acclaim.

In 2023, the series received a nomination for the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for Best Original Comedy Series, underscoring its impact and popularity within the African entertainment landscape.
