BREAKING! Niger State Govt To Demolish Police Station

Niger State Governor Muhammad Bago have  confirmed that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Akali Baba police have given the go-ahead to relocate the police station to enable the Niger State government to carry on with its plans to ensure adequate water supply to the people.

In a bid to ensure uninterrupted water supply to residents of Minna and its environs, a Police Station built on the main water pipeline from the Chanchaga water works is set for demolition on the orders of the Niger State Government.

During a visit to the police high command in Abuja by the Niger State Governor, Muhammad Bago, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Akali Baba also gave his approval to relocate the station from its current location.

Recall Bago had on May 29, 2023, during his inauguration speech ordered the demolition of the structure for standing on a major water supply pipeline.

It was gathered that the station has been sitting on a major water supply pipeline for over a decade and could obstruct the state government’s new policy to improve water reticulation.

To that effect, a bigger structure has already been provided to host the police station in the area by the state government

Speaking on the issue, Governor Bago confirmed that the IGP has given the go-ahead to relocate the police station to enable the Niger State government to carry on with its plans to ensure adequate water supply to the people.

He said, “We have discussed with the IGP on very relevant issues, including the police station issue in Chanchaga and he has given his nod. He is in tandem with our change policy and we will carry out this Thursday”.

” We are calling on the people to stop construction of houses and other property on public utility channels, including water pipelines and electricity high tension lines.”

Furthermore, he noted,” Those who have their structures obstructing such facilities in various locations should immediately relocate their property because the state government will no longer tolerate acts of sabotage on its utility facilities in the state”.
