“A tragedy but Hamas to blame” — Benjamin Netanyahu on Gaza casualties

"Our hands are clean" -- Benjamin Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has addressed the growing outcry over the increasing civilian casualties in Gaza.

According to the Israeli Prime Minister, he asserts that Israel played no part in the bloodshed of innocent lives in the area.

During an interview on CNN’s State of the Union with Dana Bash on Sunday, November 12, Benjamin Netanyahu responded to criticism of the Israeli military’s forceful actions in Gaza, triggered by a deadly terrorist attack perpetrated by Hamas militants the previous month.

Benjamin Netanyahu placed the blame squarely on Hamas, claiming that the militant group was responsible for the civilian deaths in Gaza.

He argued that the Israeli military’s decision to initiate a ground-based invasion of the occupied Palestinian territory was a strategic move to “reduce” the potential civilian death toll that might have resulted from an alternative bombing campaign.

“People are heeding our calls to leave the area, and defying Hamas’s attempts to keep them there,” Netanyahu asserted during the interview.

When pressed by Bash about Secretary of State Tony Blinken’s statement expressing concern about the high number of Palestinian civilian casualties, Netanyahu responded,

“I think any civilian loss is a tragedy. And the blame should be placed squarely on Hamas.”

International criticism of the Israeli military campaign has been mounting, with the Biden administration and the United States, while maintaining vocal support for Israel, expressing their own concerns about the scale of the offensive.

The French government recently called for a full ceasefire in the region.
