What Manchester United camp are saying after UCL defeat

Manchester United suffered a shocking defeat in the Champions League on Tuesday night to Turkish side, Galatasaray in a 2-3 defeat on home soil, leaving the Red Devils sitting 4th in the group table.

In what would be considered as the worst start to a season for the Old Trafford side, the Red Devils have now faced 6 defeats in 10 games in roughly all competitions to leave the media with a lot of narratives and eyes scooping for a scapegoat.

Online, fans have finger pointed goalie, Andre Onana as the Jonah resulting in the sinking ship, however the Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has refused to throw off the Cameroon international despite the narratives.

In the aftermath of the 2-3 loss, the Dutchman promised to back his number 1, asserting he is yet to change his mind on the Cameroonian.

“I will encourage André Onana and I will back him — I will support him. I’ve not changed my mind — André is a 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫,” Erik ten Hag said.

“André was in one semi-final, last season also in a Champions League final. He can be one of the best in the world,”

“We have seen already Onana’s great capabilities and also his personality. He will bounce back.”

Also speaking post-match, new signing and striker, Rasmus Hojlund who scored a brace in the tie expressed a need for the team to stay together in spite the consecutive defeats.

“It’s a difficult time, but we have to stay together, it’s the only way to get through it,” he said.

“The second goal? That’s my style, my mark. That’s a Rasmus goal.”
