“We are devoted to the defense of Israel" -- Joe Biden

Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, the Biden administration is on high alert, anticipating possible strikes by Iran against multiple targets within Israel following the recent attack on its embassy in Syria.

President Joe Biden has issued a stern public warning to Iran, stating that the U.S. expects the attacks to occur “sooner than later” and urging Tehran to refrain from such actions.

A potential state-on-state conflict between Iran and Israel would signify a significant escalation in the region, which the U.S. has been keen to avoid since the onset of the Israel-Hamas conflict in October.

Reports indicate that Iranian proxies could also be involved in the anticipated attacks, with targets expected both inside Israel and across the region. The U.S. stands ready to intercept any weapons launched at Israel, underscoring the level of cooperation between the two militaries.

Intelligence suggests that Iran is mobilizing military assets internally, including drones and cruise missiles, potentially preparing to launch strikes on Israeli targets from within its own territory.

At the White House, President Biden reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to Israel’s security, emphasizing U.S. support and readiness to defend against Iranian aggression.

“We are devoted to the defense of Israel. We will support Israel we will help defend Israel and Iran will not succeed.”

The threat of Iranian strikes remains “real,” “credible,” and “viable,” according to White House officials, particularly following Israel’s recent attack on an Iranian diplomatic compound in Syria, resulting in the deaths of three Iranian generals.

President Biden has been receiving regular updates on the situation from his national security team, while the U.S. and several other countries have issued new travel guidelines for government employees in Israel as a precautionary measure.

“We’re watching this very, very closely,” stated John Kirby, National Security Council spokesman, indicating ongoing vigilance in response to the evolving threat.
