Tinubu makes new appointment again

In a recent development, President Bola Tinubu has greenlit the appointments of new Executive Directors for two key agencies, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

This announcement was relayed by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale in a statement released from Abuja on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

Both entities fall under the purview of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which is overseen by Adegboyega Oyetola, the former Governor of Osun State.

The appointments for the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) include:

  • Ms. Vivian C. Richard Edet — Executive Director, Finance & Administration (NPA)
  • Engr. Olalekan Badmus — Executive Director, Marine & Operations (NPA)
  • Engr. Ibrahim Abba Umar — Executive Director, Engineering & Technical Services (NPA)

Meanwhile, the appointees for NIMASA are:

  • Mr. Jibril Abba — Executive Director, Maritime Labour & Cabotage Services (NIMASA)
  • Mr. Chudi Offodile — Executive Director, Finance & Administration (NIMASA)
  • Engr. Fatai Taye Adeyemi — Executive Director, Operations (NIMASA)

Ngelale emphasized that President Tinubu approved these appointments based on a thorough evaluation of their commendable backgrounds.

The President expressed confidence that the newly appointed individuals would efficiently and promptly execute their collective responsibilities.

The overarching goal is to bolster the Marine & Blue Economy sector’s contribution to the nation’s GDP significantly.

Furthermore, it was highlighted that the new appointees are expected to spearhead initiatives that will transform the Nigerian economy into a more labor-intensive and inclusive one, generating fresh opportunities for all Nigerians.

This directive aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda and operates under the guidance of Minister Adegboyega Oyetola in the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
