“Thanks for nothing” — Yemi Alade blasts Lagos State government

Yemi Alade continues her row on Lagos State government over their recent activities in the Real Estate sector.

The Nigerian singer and famous for the single, ‘Johnny’ has taken it upon herself to take a firm stance against the Lagos state government following the recent demolition of houses in the Mende area of the state.

The demolition, carried out by the state Ministry of Environment and Water Resources over the weekend, cited that the houses were constructed on the state’s drainage system.

Yemi Alade expressed her dissatisfaction with the government’s actions in a video shared over the weekend, highlighting the detrimental effects of the demolitions on the real estate value of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.

Taking to Twitter on the morning of May 5, Yemi Alade continued to voice her concerns, accusing the state government of dissuading potential investors from engaging in Lagos real estate.

In a series of tweets, she wrote;

Send notices to the residents directly! Put it in the news! Showing up like santa clause and issuing 2hr notice is trauma unleashed for undeserving citizens. They are not the developer and yes the developer has also failed residents!

She called upon the government to take responsibility by initiating the refund of monies paid by legally recognized buyers for their land purchases, which are now affected by the demolitions.

The singer’s outspoken criticism underscores the growing tensions between residents, developers, and government authorities regarding urban development and land use policies in Lagos.
