Six Dead, One Missing in Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Attack on Benue Community
Six individuals were reportedly killed, and one is missing following an attack by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen on Ogbaulu community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State on Tuesday.

The assault on Ogbaulu community has been ongoing for the past two weeks, with frequent attacks leading to loss of lives and property destruction.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attack commenced around 5:30 pm, as armed Fulani herdsmen descended on Ogbaulu Market, shooting indiscriminately and causing chaos. Shops were destroyed, and lives were lost in the violence.

Comrade Adole Jose Ehoda, a youth leader from Ogbaulu, described the attackers as well-armed herders who invaded the community via multiple routes.

“We have recovered six bodies, and more are still missing. They also destroyed many shops, stole foodstuffs, and carted away motorcycles,” Adole stated.

Barr Napoleon Otache, another community member, condemned the ongoing attacks and criticized the slow response of security agencies. He called on the Federal Government to intervene and halt the violence plaguing Benue State.

Reacting to the incident, Hon. Yakubu Ochohepo, the Caretaker Chairman of Agatu LGA, expressed frustration at the assailants and vowed swift action to restore security in the area.
