Police arrest three armed robbery suspects in Kwara

Three individuals believed to be involved in armed robbery have been apprehended by the Kwara State Police Command.

In Ilorin, the state capital, the spokesperson for the command, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, reported that a cut-to-size single-barrel gun and one android phone were found in possession of the suspects involved in the operation.

They were identified as John Ndubusi Nbakogu, Toheeb Suleiman and Bolakale Quadir, aka Adaka.

On March 2, at approximately 06:30hrs, Ejire reported an armed robbery incident in the Oko-Erin area of Ilorin. The incident involved the forceful loss of a citizen’s property.

“The victim, whose identity is withheld for security reasons, was attacked by three armed men while he was attending to his traps. During the ordeal, the victim was robbed of his Infinix Note 11 handset, valued N150,000,” she added.

The spokesperson said the swift response of the command’s officers led to the arrest of the first suspect shortly after the incident.

“Subsequently, investigation led to the identification and arrest of two other suspects. Additionally, a cut to size single barrel gun, believed to have been used during the operation, was recovered from one of the suspects,” Ejire further stated.

“Through investigation, it was discovered that the suspects are indeed responsible for the heinous act perpetrated against the complainant.”

The spokesperson said the suspects will be arraigned in court to face prosecution, urging members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and relevant information that could assist in the prevention and detection of crime.

The state Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, has reassured the public of the unwavering commitment of the command to ensuring the safety and security of citizens.

“Kwara State will no longer be a place of abode for crime/criminal elements. We will spare no effort in bringing perpetrators of crime to justice while maintaining law and order in our communities,” he said.
