Three leaders from the Olota community in Ughelli South LGA of Delta State have been apprehended by troops from the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.

The arrests are reportedly linked to the death of 17 officers who were killed on March 14 during a peacekeeping mission to the Okuama community.

According to Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, the arrests took place on Wednesday as the suspects attempted to flee with two speed boats equipped with 75 horsepower outboard engines.

The names of the arrested leaders were not disclosed, but the Defence Headquarters had previously declared eight individuals wanted, including Clement Oghenerukevwe, the monarch of Ewu-Urhobo kingdom in the state.

The arrests came after meticulous efforts by the military to apprehend the masterminds and perpetrators behind the officers’ killings, prompting them to expand their search beyond Okuama.
