Mastermind Behind Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack Arrested by Army
The Nigerian army have allegedly captured the masterminds behind the terrorist attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train service.
During a bi-weekly news briefing on the operations of the armed forces, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami, announced that troops from Operation Whirl Punch had apprehended one of the masterminds behind the terrorist attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train service that took place on March 28th, 2022.
The suspect was among three terrorists who were captured by troops at Damba community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on February 14th. The operation also resulted in the recovery of two motorcycles, mobile phones, various currencies including 5,000 dollars, and other sundry items.
Major General Danmadami revealed that in addition to capturing the terrorists, troops on fighting patrol also neutralized seven terrorists at Ungwan Birni in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state. The operation led to the recovery of 83 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 50 rounds of 7.62mm special, seven magazines, and other items from the terrorists.
In the same period, troops from Operation Hadarin Daji neutralized 23 terrorists and arrested nine individuals. They also rescued 23 abducted civilians. The air component of the operation conducted various air interdiction operations to restrict the terrorists’ freedom of action.
“Specifically, on Feb. 13, an air interdiction operation was conducted based on intelligence report that terrorists had gathered for a wedding ceremony at a location within Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.
“Another air interdiction operation was conducted at identified terrorist locations within Kankara and Batsari Local Government Areas, all in Katsina State.
“Feedback revealed that several terrorists were neutralised in both air strikes,” the defence spokesman said.
