Martin Odegaard Best Midfielder In The League – Jamie Redknapp

Former Premier League footballer, Jamie Redknapp, has hailed Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard as the best midfielder in the Premier League. Redknapp believes the Norwegian midfielder has surpassed Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne as the top midfielder in the league at present.

Martin Odegaard was on the score sheet as Arsenal secured a 3-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday. The victory saw the Gunners maintain their five-point lead over Manchester City in the league table. Brazilian duo Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli were also among the goals, while Leandro Trossard provided a hat-trick of assists for the North London club.

The 24-year-old Norwegian international has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in the league this season. Redknapp believes Odegaard’s impressive performances have made him the best midfielder in the Premier League, surpassing De Bruyne, who has been widely considered as one of the best midfielders in the world.

“Right now he’s number one. There’s nobody [better],” Redknapp told Sky Sports. “Normally we would say Kevin De Bruyne is the best midfield player, not just in the Premier League but in the world. But something isn’t quite right. He isn’t playing as many games as he’d like.”

Redknapp’s comments have come after a string of impressive performances by Odegaard since joining Arsenal on a permanent deal from Real Madrid in January. The Norwegian’s contributions have helped the Gunners maintain a push for a title in the Premier League.
