Michael Ogundele, a 30-year-old man, was arrested by the police in Ogun State, Nigeria, for shooting and injuring his younger sister’s boyfriend, Tobi Olabisi. The incident took place on a Friday at Idi-Iroko in the Ipokia Local Government Area of the state and was reported by a community leader in Ihunbo town, Alpha Akeem.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested after the complaint was made at the Idi-Iroko Divisional headquarters. The PPRO stated that the complainant had been warning the victim to stop his love affair with Michael’s younger sister. When the suspect got wind that the victim was sleeping in his sister’s room, he went there with a Dane gun. Upon arriving, the victim jumped out of the window to escape, but was shot by Michael. The victim was quickly taken to the General Hospital in Idi-Iroko for treatment and is now responding to the medical attention.

On interrogation, Michael claimed that he had warned the victim to stay away from his sister but was ignored. The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of Michael to the Homicide section of the state Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution. This case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of using violence to resolve conflicts and the importance of seeking non-violent means to address disagreements.
