Pastor Kinto Dennis of The Empowerment City Church, ECC was apprehended by the police for allegedly beating his congregations with a cane.

The Ugandan Pastor was arrested after a video of him inflicting bodily harm on his Ushers and church members with a cane.

In a video that gathered quite some reactions, the Empowerment City Pastor could be seen standing at the pulpit, holding a long whip, ready for his members.

One by one, he put to order, his members and began to unleash terrible strokes on their backs and buttocks as they lie down on the ground.

Uganda, situated in East Africa, outlawed corporal punishment, which made the authorities take action on such cases.

It was, however, alleged that Pastor Dennis’s corporal action came because of late coming and incompetence.

The Pastor has already been charged with 18 counts of common assault, causing bodily harm, assault, promoting sectarianism, and human trafficking.

Amid the controversy, many of his congregants, of course, stood in defense of his actions. According to them, he was only ‘flogging his children’.

The notion of those congregants shows how engraved religion is in Africa as a whole.

Further investigation gathers that journalists who came to film the church was apprehended and beaten up before being ordered to delete their footage.
