It's disappointing -- Ireland Women's Captain, Katie McCabe

Ireland captain, Katie McCabe, has reacted to her team’s failure in failing to beat the Nigeria’s Super Falcons in a 0-0 draw in Monday’s FIFA Women’s World Cup tie in Brisbane.

Katie McCabe rued failure to convert chance in the encounter as a reason for not coming out of the game with maximum points and bowing out of the tournament in style.

Both the Republic of Ireland and Nigeria played a tense goalless draw that saw both teams slumber and miss chances in the Monday tie.

Speaking to RTE Sport after the game, McCabe believed Ireland could have taken all three points against Nigeria in Brisbane, saying;

“We spoke at the start [about wanting] to start the game with a lot of energy.

“To have a lot of the possession was really good, it was just about utilising it in the right areas.

“We did create some good opportunities and it was disappointing that we did not capitalise on it.”
