How Lisandro Martinez reacted to coming off injured

Manchester United defender, Lisandro Martinez coming off injured against Sevilla in the Europa League was a terrible sight to behold, even for rival fans of the Red Devils, especially when the Argentine’s emotional reaction to being down is considered.

As it seems now, Manchester United’s Europa League campaign hangs in the balance after the late equaliser from Sevilla saw the two teams draw 2-2 at Old Trafford on Thursday night. The result leaves United with a difficult task in the second leg of the quarter-final tie, with the potential absence of key players adding to their woes.

The match got off to a flying start for the home team, with January signing Marcel Sabitzer scoring twice in the space of seven minutes to give them a 2-0 lead after 21 minutes. However, the visitors refused to give up, and United goalkeeper David de Gea was forced to make a brilliant save to deny Tanguy Nianzou just before half-time.

In the second half, United appeared to be in control, but a lapse in concentration from Tyrell Malacia allowed Sevilla to get back into the game in the 83rd minute. Jesus Navas was able to cross the ball, which was deflected into the back of the net by a combination of Malacia and De Gea.

The situation then went from bad to worse for United when Lisandro Martinez went down injured and had to be helped off the pitch in tears. Fans on social media were quick to express their concerns, with one saying, “Martinez season over, definitely achiles gone.”

To make matters worse, Youssef En Nesyri’s header in the 93rd minute was deflected into the net by United captain Harry Maguire, giving Sevilla a late equaliser and leaving United fans worried about the potential absence of key players for the second leg.

United will now have to wait for a diagnosis on Martinez’s injury, while also sweating over the fitness of other key players such as Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, and Marcus Rashford. The team faces Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday before travelling to Spain for the second leg of the Europa League tie against Sevilla.
