Harry Maguire invites Ghanaian MP to Old Trafford

Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire has invited Ghanaian Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo to Old Trafford after the politician surprisingly tendered an apology to the Center Back following a previous statement made in jest of the England international.

Late last season, Isaac Adongo had targeted Harry Maguire in a peculiar analogy that compared the defender to Ghana’s vice-president Mahamudu Bawumia, in a statement where he alleged both were responsible for political ‘own goals.’

The comments by Adongo came at a time when Harry Maguire was grappling with a challenging phase at Manchester United, having lost his spot in the team under the management of Erik ten Hag.

However, on Tuesday, Adongo extended an apology to Maguire, acknowledging him as a ‘transformational footballer.’ Maguire, in response, took to Twitter on Wednesday to accept Adongo’s apology graciously. He wrote, “MP Issac Adongo apology accepted. See you at Old Trafford soon.”

This unexpected reconciliation follows a period of tension stemming from Adongo’s remarks that had drawn attention not only from football circles but also within the political arena.

The English Centre-Back’s mental fortitude despite the online criticism, jest and banter directed at him is something that hasn’t been appreciated, as amidst the ‘negative narratives’ directed at him, the former Leicester City player has been able to walk himself back into Manchester United’s team even though he was on the cusp of been forced out.
