Governor Ododo pledges justice for Ogbe killing

Gov. Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has pledged to utilize all available resources to bring the perpetrators of the Ogbe killing to justice and ensure security in the area.

This commitment follows the tragic incident on Friday, where bandits allegedly killed two individuals in Ogbe Community, Yagba West Local Government Area.

On Sunday, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, visited the affected community on behalf of the governor. During his visit, Fanwo conveyed the governor’s condolences and assured residents that the government would take all necessary steps to apprehend those responsible and restore security.

Governor Ododo affirmed that Kogi State has the requisite forces to combat criminality and terrorism effectively. He urged the community to trust in his administration’s dedication to eradicating insecurity across the state.

He also cautioned against retaliatory attacks, emphasizing the government’s resolve to pursue and penalize the offenders. “President Bola Tinubu, through the Armed Forces and security agencies, is providing Kogi State with the necessary support to launch a comprehensive offensive against criminal elements,” Ododo stated. “I assure you, Kogi will remain one of the safest states in the country.”

Adeleke John, a former councilor of Ogbe Ward, responded on behalf of the community, expressing gratitude for the governor’s swift response and assurance. “It shows we have a governor who is responsive and responsible. We will not embark on any reprisal attack because we are not hopeless. We have confidence in the government to protect us,” John said.

Accompanying the commissioner on the visit were Tosin Olokun, Transition Committee Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, and Philip Orebiyi, a former member of the Kogi House of Assembly.
