Former Social Democratic Party (SDP) chieftain Dr. Duro Dolapo has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, providing a boost to the ruling party ahead of the governorship race.

Dolapo, a former SDP House of Assembly candidate, was warmly welcomed into the APC fold at Supare-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area.

The APC Ward 11 Chairman, Adedeji Lamidi lauded Dolapo’s move as a forerunner to the election triumph, stressing his grassroots appeal and political background.

The State APC Auditor, Aye Cyril, reiterated Lamidi’s remarks, emphasising the party’s expanding influence in the state’s political environment.

Dolapo expressed his loyalty to the APC by emphasising his progressive values and adherence to the party’s policies, promising to contribute to its success.

He reaffirmed his decision to return to the APC, expressing a desire to restore his mandate and continue serving Nigeria.

He said, “Ladies and gentlemen, It is with great humility and a sense of purpose that I stand before you today. As many of you are aware, I recently decided to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after a brief stint with the Social Democratic Party (SDP). I want to take a moment to explain this decision and reaffirm my unwavering commitment to the APC.

“I joined the APC a decade ago, driven by a deep belief in its principles and a vision for a better Nigeria. Throughout my time with the party, I have dedicated my resources and efforts to advancing its goals and serving the people of our great nation. While my brief departure to the SDP was motivated by a desire to reclaim what I believed to be my mandate, my heart has always remained with the APC.

“Now, I stand before you ready to continue the good work we have started together. I am committed to building on the progress we have made and working tirelessly to address the challenges facing our country. Together, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve our shared vision of a prosperous and inclusive Nigeria.

“In closing, I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support and dedication to the APC. Together, let us rededicate ourselves to the principles of our party and work together to build a brighter future for all Nigerians. Am glad to be back to APC. Thank you.
