Fans react to Rasmus Hojlund emotional Interview

Rasmus Hojlund picked the perfect day to show his worth to Manchester United, and what a day it was for the Red Devils who were at the brink of certain defeat after going 2-0 down in the first 25 minutes of play.

Manchester United’s Boxing Day clash against Aston Villa unfolded into a rollercoaster of emotions as Rasmus Hojlund, after a 14-game drought, etched his name in Premier League history with a stunning goal that sealed a 3-2 victory.

The forward’s emotional response mirrored the breathtaking turnaround at Old Trafford on Monday.

The match initially favored Villa, securing a 2-0 lead courtesy of John McGinn and Leander Dendoncker, exploiting United’s questionable defending.

However, the Red Devils roared back in the second half with relentless pressure, as Alejandro Garnacho’s brace leveled the game with 20 minutes remaining.

Hojlund’s defining moment arrived when he pivoted within the box, launching a left-footed strike that found the net off the post, setting off jubilation in Old Trafford. His celebration was an outpouring of relief and elation, encapsulating the magnitude of his breakthrough.

Speaking to Amazon Prime Sport post-match, Hojlund expressed his joy, stating,

“Yeah, it’s been a while. I’m happy. I’m the happiest man alive right now! You can see in the celebrations as well. We believe until the end, and we showed a lot of character again today.”

Acknowledging the team’s resilience, he added, “Today we showed a lot of character, and we showed a lot of confidence as well.”

During the Player of the Match presentation to Garnacho, Hojlund conveyed his affection, saying, “I love you,” reciprocating the sentiment from his teammate.

Captain Bruno Fernandes emphasized the importance of consistency in United’s play and the necessity for clinical finishing.

He acknowledged the scrutiny on the team, stating,

“Consistency is winning games, it doesn’t matter how. People are going to look at results.

“We need to be more clinical. Everyone is aware of that, as a Manchester United player, you know you will be criticized more than praised. You need to adapt to that.”
