Arsenal eye former Tottenham star for Summer Transfer

Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for former Tottenham Hotspur player Marcus Edwards as they prepare their summer transfer targets in a bid to clinch their first Premier League title since the 2003/04 season.

Mikel Arteta’s side has come close to winning the title in recent seasons but has been edged out by Manchester City, who have dominated the league with their superior attacking prowess. In an effort to bridge this gap, Arsenal are exploring options to bolster their squad, with Edwards emerging as a potential target.

Edwards, now 25, left Spurs on a free transfer in 2019 and joined Portuguese club Vitoria de Guimaraes. He currently plays for Sporting CP but is expected to depart this summer after falling out of favor with manager Ruben Amorim.

According to CaughtOffside, reports from Portugal indicate that Arsenal are keen on bringing the attacking midfielder back to North London.

Arsenal’s defensive record last season was impressive, conceding only 29 goals throughout the Premier League campaign, the best in the league.

However, their attacking output fell short compared to Manchester City’s, who secured their fourth consecutive title. Arsenal averaged 12.5 key passes per game, while City averaged 14.4, highlighting the marginal differences at the top level.

Edwards, known for his creativity and attacking flair, could provide the additional spark Arsenal need in the forward area. His ability to operate as an attacking midfielder would add depth and versatility to Arteta’s squad, potentially improving their key pass statistics and overall attacking threat.

The prospect of signing a former Spurs player is sure to add an intriguing twist to Arsenal’s transfer activities this summer.
