Arsenal Boss, Mikel Arterta signs New Contract

Flashback into the early start to the Premier League season, Arsenal were in the relegation zone after loosing 3 games straight at the start of the campaign to Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City. The club hierarchy were being condemned by fans, rival fans turned the club into a banter club, wondering if end of the season Arsenal could become the first big team to be relegated.

Long story short, every Gunner fan wanted the Manager sacked, even prior to the start of the season after having been eliminated by Europa underdogs; Villarreal in the semi final of the Europa League; the club’s only ticket to Champions League football end of last season.

But Football being a seasonal game that dabbles in form and the moment, the world would prefer to forget what’s now passed to focus on the future. Arsenal are currently doing well, in fine form if not perfect. They’ve beaten 3rd placed Chelsea and Manchester United in back to back fixtures to gift themselves hope at a top 4 finish in the Premier League even after doing away with club captain, Aubameyang in the winter.

Arterta, the once criticized Manager, has now masterminded a turn around even Manchester United fandom would be envious of, considering they unlike Arsenal, started the campaign in the opposite trajectory in fine form only for it to be the reverse at this moment of the season. And as reward, the Arsenal board has gifted the Spaniard another contract extension.

Rather than do away with their manager, the board sees it fit to support ‘the process’ by giving Mikel Arterta a new contract along with assistant Jonas Eidervall till 2025 to secure their future for the extended period with the club.

According to the Spaniard when interviewed, he noted his satisfaction with the club, saying in quote: “I’m really excited, grateful and really, really happy”

Arterta started out as an assistant to Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, only to be poached from the club behind the club’s back by Arsenal in the middle of the 2019/20 season after the sack of current Villarreal manager, Unai Emery.

The former Arsenal captain has since then won the club an Emirates FA cup trophy and a Community Shield between top sides like Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool along the way.
