ABOUT
Aramide Sarumoh, known professionally as Aramide, is a Nigerian Afro-soul singer and songwriter.

EARLY LIFE
Aramide Sarumoh was born on June 22nd, 1985 in Lagos, Nigeria to parents from Ibadan, Oyo state.

Aramide grew up in Jos, Plateau state where she had her education. She develop her singing, song writing and instrumentalist skills while in Jos. Aramide grew up in a music orientated family where her love for music began.

After secondary school, she learnt to play the saxophone and guitar, two instruments she is quite passionate about. While studying Political Science at the University of Jos, she participated in the Star Quest talent hunt show, making her part of a band that finished Third Runners up. Her ever growing solo career took off shortly after graduation.

EDUCATION
She is a graduate of Political science from the University of Jos.

CAREER
Aramide was a contestant at the Star Quest in 2006 after which she didn’t have any significant record made available on air for about 2 years. In 2008, she was part of a show called “Divas Unplugged’ a show which contains female hosts in her familiar city Jos. The show was very challenging and rewarding, with her performance and involvement being very inspiration.

Aramide released her first official track “Killing Me” a song produced by Sizzle in 2011. In 2012 she released another single “It’s Over “which she released the video in 2017. Her first two singles were released under Trybe Records. On February 3rd, 2014 she released her third single “Felling the Feeling”. On September 9, 2014 she got signed to Baseline Music after she exits Trybe Records.

On February 4th, 2015 she released her first song under Baseline Music “Iwo Nikan” she got her first professional award of her career at the Headies 2015 edition which was held at the Landmark Events Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos where she won the Best Vocal Performance (Female). Her song “Iwo Nikan” was her breakthrough in the Nigeria music industry.

Her debut album, Suitcase, was released in November 2016 and features singles like ‘FunMi Lowo’ featuring Sir Dauda and ‘Love Me’ ft. Adekunle Gold which has topped various charts for several weeks and are currently receiving massive airplay on radio stations within and outside Nigeria. This is in addition to her award winning single, ‘Iwo Nikan’ which talks about unconditional love, and ‘Feeling This Feeling’ that talks about Love and Friendship.

Having featured on songs with other Nigerian artists which include Good Man by eLDee, an offshoot from a campaign “Violence against women”, Aramide has worked and shared the stage with the likes of Banky W, Sound Sultan, Tiwa, Dr Sid, MI, Adekunle Gold, Koker, eLDee, Waje, Yemi Alade and many more. Her acoustic rendition and female version of eLDee’s popular song “Today Today” and Davido’s “Ekuro” went viral and received much acclaim compared to the original. 

In 2017, Aramide embark on her debut world tour which took place in United States, Ghana and Nigeria titled “Aramide Suitcase Live” (ASL). She performed at the legendary Sounds of Brazil (SOBs) in New York, the Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk among other locations. She has since performed at the various events in Nigeria, United Kingdom, Dubai, United States and Canada. 

Aramide sings about love, betrayal, friendship, trust, and the attendant joys and aches of womanhood. Her musical influences include Erykah Badu, Miriam Makeba, Sade, Angelique Kidjo and other greats.

FAMILY
She got married to Pelumi Alli in 2015. The traditional and white wedding took place on April 18th, 2015 in her hometown of Ibadan, Oyo state. The couple welcomed their first child, Anjolaoluwa Charis Alli on the 26th of December, 2019.

PERSONAL LIFE
Aramide is one of the richest and most influential female Nigerian singers.

She said she wasn’t a clout chaser. Though her music style isn’t popular, she has no intention of changing it. Through hardwork, consistency, and her brilliant ideas, she’s risen to fame quite quickly.
