AFCON: “Let’s go back to facing our problems” — Charlie Boy

What’s done is done, Nigerian singer and entertainment personality, Charles Oputa famously known as Charlie Boy asserts after Nigeria’s Super Eagles fell to defeat in the AFCON final against host nation, Ivory Coast.

It was a crushing defeat for the Super Eagles team which according to the entertainer should bring Nigerians back to facing the larger problem at hand; the dwindling situation of the country as a whole.

Charly Boy commended the efforts of the squad for reaching the AFCON final against Ivory Coast but acknowledged that the better team emerged victorious like it should be.

In a statement posted on his social media platform X, Charly Boy expressed,

“The Super Eagles really tried but the best team won. Oya, make we face the demons facing us.”

The match saw Nigeria take the lead in the first half courtesy of William Troost-Ekong’s header.

However, Ivory Coast mounted a comeback in the second half, equalizing through Franck Kessie’s header. With minutes remaining, Sebastien Haller’s decisive strike secured the host nation’s triumph over Nigeria.

The Super Eagles exited as runner-up with Troost-Ekong’s goal the only shot on target for Nigeria against the host nation.
