A Horror Show –Steve McManaman Hits At Former Club

Former Liverpool player Steve McManaman has slammed the club’s performance in their 5-2 loss against Real Madrid during their UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday night.

The ex-footballer and current BT Sport pundit branded the display as a “horror show” and claimed that Liverpool were “absolutely ripped apart” by the Spanish team.

Despite taking an early lead with two goals from Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, Liverpool were unable to maintain their advantage. Real Madrid came back strong, scoring three goals in the first half and two more in the second, thanks to Karim Benzema, Vinicius, and Eder Militao.

During the match, Steve  McManaman criticized Liverpool’s defensive tactics, highlighting their vulnerability in the center of the park, and pointing out the errors that led to the goals. He also praised the skill of Benzema, calling him the “coolest man on the planet” for his composure during his goal.

The loss at Anfield continued a difficult season for Liverpool, who currently sit in eighth position in the Premier League table. The club has also been knocked out of both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, with many questioning the reasons behind their below-average performance.

Despite the disappointing result, Liverpool still has a chance to turn the tie around when they face Real Madrid in the return leg at the Santiago Bernabeu in March. The Reds will need to win by at least three goals to have a chance of advancing to the next round of the competition.

“‘I think that sums it up, absolutely ripped apart,” McManaman told BT Sport after the game.

“They’re caught again in the centre of the park, pounced upon, and when [Karim] Benzema has got the ball in the position he found himself, he’s the coolest man on the planet.

“Have some of that, three people go one way and he just places it in. That’s another one in the collection.”

Steve McManaman added, “To concede five goals at Anfield. Five goals at Anfield. From 2-0 up.

“This will be a horror show for Liverpool for the players to look back and look at the mistakes in the last four goals. A chastening experience this evening.”
