X new feature allows blocked users to view posts of blockers

X, formerly known as Twitter, is significantly changing its blocking feature.

According to owner Elon Musk, blocked users will now be able to see the posts of blocked accounts, although they still won’t be able to interact with those accounts.

A source from X confirmed the new feature, explaining that users can already view content from blocked accounts by switching to another account. The new blocked access feature is seen as a formal acknowledgement of this workaround.

Musk has been vocal about his opposition to the platform’s blocking feature for some time. Over a year ago, he expressed his desire to remove blocking altogether, except for direct messages, stating that the feature “makes no sense.”

In May, X’s Engineering account announced plans for the change, stating it would allow blocked users to “identify and report any potential bad content” they previously couldn’t view. While no specific rollout date was given at the time, the feature is now being implemented.
