Worker falls from ladder during May Day celebration

The Lekan Salami stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State was the site of a dramatic incident during the Workers’ Day celebrations, as a member of the National Union of Electricity Employees fell from a ladder while demonstrating the symbol of the union, Topnaija reports.

Workers’ Day is an annual event in Nigeria to honor the contributions of workers.

According to an eyewitness, the compere called on all the affiliated unions of the Nigeria Labour Congress to participate in the yearly match pass.

When it was the turn of the NUEE, they brought out a ladder and one of their members climbed it to demonstrate how they disconnect electricity supply.

The man fell off the ladder while in the presence of Governor Seyi Makinde and other dignitaries who were praising the union’s demonstration.

The eyewitness reported that the ladder suddenly broke into two, and the man fell to the ground.

The current location of the fallen worker is unknown, but he was quickly rescued and taken away.

This incident highlights the importance of safety measures during public demonstrations.
