Why France Hold An Edge Over Argentina--Drogba

The Qatar world cup may have offered audiences lots of surprises but inevitably came to a predictable end with France and Argentina, Mbappe vs. Messi set to duke it out for the world champion title.

According to former Chelsea player, Didier Drogba, the edge still remains with France over Argentina due to their experience in the tournament and the France head coach, Didier Deschamps.

Before their 2022 FIFA World Cup semifinal match at the Lusail Stadium on Sunday, France and Argentina have two significant advantages over each other, according to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

France has an advantage, according to Drogba, because they were in the World Cup final and won it four years ago.

When France plays Argentina this weekend, they will try to make history by being the first side to defend the FIFA World Cup crown in 60 years.

Recall that the team led by Didier Deschamps won the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Argentina defeated Croatia 3-0, while Les Bleus defeated Morocco 2-0 to advance to the championship match.

“France do have the advantage of being in the final and winning it four years ago,” Drogba told BBC Sport.

“You know how to handle the pressure, you have been there, but they have new players and it will be new for them.

“It might be the first time some of them have played against Lionel Messi as well. The pressure will be there.

“This France team is very, very competitive, especially with Didier Deschamps as their manager. They want to win it back to back.”
