Who Lampard is likely to bring to Chelsea

Frank Lampard, Chelsea’s newly appointed interim manager, will reportedly bring in three of his former assistants to Stamford Bridge. According to reports in England, Lampard will reunite with Ashley Cole, Joe Edwards, and Chris Jones as part of his coaching staff.

Lampard was announced as the interim manager of Chelsea on Thursday, following the dismissal of former manager Graham Potter by the club’s co-owners. The former Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder has a strong connection with the Stamford Bridge faithful, having made 648 appearances for the club and scored 211 goals.

The Athletic reports that Lampard will be bringing in Ashley Cole, the former England left-back who played alongside Lampard at Chelsea, as one of his assistants. Cole, who retired from playing in August 2021, is currently working as a pundit for Sky Sports.

In addition to Cole, Lampard is also expected to bring in Joe Edwards and Chris Jones, both of whom have previously worked with Lampard at Derby County. Edwards, who is currently the assistant manager of Chelsea’s U23 team, was part of Lampard’s backroom staff at Derby County. Meanwhile, Jones worked as a first-team coach under Lampard at Derby County before moving to Liverpool in 2019.

Lampard’s decision to bring in his former assistants shows his desire to create a team of individuals who share his philosophy and work ethic. The trio will no doubt bring valuable experience and knowledge to the coaching staff at Chelsea, as the club aims to climb up the Premier League table and secure success both domestically and in Europe.
