What worries me about Liverpool -- Danny Murphy

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy weighs in on the Premier League title race and what could deter his former club from going all the way against Manchester City who he suggests are the frontrunners ahead of Arsenal.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy emphasized the importance of upcoming fixtures and highlighted three key matches that could pose challenges for Arsenal as they vie for the title alongside Liverpool and City.

With just three points separating Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City after 29 matches, Murphy believes that both Liverpool and City have more favorable run-ins compared to Arsenal. However, in the current league standings, the Reds are second on the table with 1 point behind Arsenal with a game in hand after the Gunners saw off a 2-0 win versus Luton Town.

“This is what makes a Premier League title race exciting,” Murphy commented.

“Unless you’re a Manchester City fan, you probably want someone else to clinch it. However, I don’t see Arsenal emerging victorious solely due to their fixtures. They face tough trips to Tottenham, Old Trafford, and Brighton.”

Assessing Liverpool’s prospects, Danny Murphy noted that his former team have the favored fixture list,

“Liverpool have a very favorable run-in, with the exception of the Tottenham game, which could pose a challenge for them. Meanwhile, Manchester City also have a relatively smooth path ahead.”

Danny Murphy also suggested that Liverpool’s recent elimination from the FA Cup could serve as a wake-up call for the team, stating,

“The best thing that happened for Liverpool was being knocked out of the FA Cup because it would have motivated them. I don’t foresee Liverpool making the same mistake again; they are too strong for Manchester United.”
