"We'll continue to hold Iran accountable" -- Joe Biden

In a Thursday night address to the American people, President Joe Biden issued a stern warning to Iran, asserting that the country would be held accountable for its support of both Russia and the terrorist organization, Hamas.

Joe Biden linked the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel during his speech, emphasizing the need to prevent “terrorists like Hamas and Putin” from achieving their objectives.

Biden pointed out that Iran was providing military support to both Russia, embroiled in the Ukraine conflict, and Hamas, responsible for a devastating attack on Israel on October 8 that resulted in the loss of 1,400 lives.

“Iran is supporting Russia in Ukraine, and it’s supporting Hamas and other terrorist groups in the region,” President Biden stated. “We’ll continue to hold them accountable, I might add.”

The President implored Congress to pass approximately $100 billion in new funding, primarily for Ukraine, but this request has faced resistance from many Congressional Republicans who are cautious about allocating additional funds to Ukraine.

During his 15-minute address from the Resolute Desk, Biden argued that while Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hamas represent different threats, they share a common goal – the annihilation of neighboring democracies.

Ukraine and Israel both find themselves at odds with Iran, which supports various groups and exerts influence in the region.

Biden stressed the importance of American leadership and alliances, stating that they are what hold the world together and keep America safe.

He highlighted that turning away from Ukraine and Israel would jeopardize American values and partnerships with other nations.

The President’s remarks came after the Senate unanimously passed a resolution supporting Israel’s right to self-defense and condemning Hamas’s attacks on civilians.

The resolution also condemned Iran’s support for global terrorism, including its backing of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a warning earlier in the week, stating that if Israel continued bombing Gaza, Muslims and resistance forces around the world would not be stopped.
