A US Muslim advocacy group has demanded an apology from President Joe Biden for not inviting the Mayor of Jersey City, New Jersey  to the White House’s Eid al-Fitr celebration.

According to reports, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) has accused the Biden administration of excluding Mayor Steven Fulop from the White House event, despite his efforts to promote interfaith dialogue and inclusion.

Eid al-Fitr is an important Islamic holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. The White House traditionally hosts a celebration to recognize the occasion and to honor Muslim leaders and community members.

In a statement, MPAC expressed disappointment and called on the Biden administration to apologize to Mayor Fulop and to make sure that such an exclusionary incident does not happen again in the future.

The statement also urged the White House to ensure that its Eid al-Fitr celebrations are inclusive and representative of the diversity within the Muslim community.

The Biden administration has not yet responded to the MPAC’s demand for an apology. However, the incident has sparked a conversation about the importance of recognizing and including diverse voices and perspectives in all aspects of American society, including in official celebrations and events.
