Tragic loss: 17 soldiers killed in Delta state leaves 21 children orphaned

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, expressed deep regret as he revealed that the recent killing of 17 military personnel in Delta State has left 21 children orphaned and 10 women widowed, three of whom are pregnant.

Speaking at the burial ceremony for the slain soldiers in Abuja, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja condemned the senseless act, lamenting that those responsible were meant to protect citizens.

He assured the families of the fallen soldiers that the Nigerian Army and the nation stand with them, promising support and the pursuit of justice.

Despite the tragedy, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja affirmed the Army’s unwavering commitment to its duties, pledging to bring the perpetrators to justice and recover all belongings of the murdered troops.

The Chief of Army Staff urged for cooperation from all Nigerians, particularly those in the affected area, to aid in the swift resolution of the incident.
