Tinubu finally moves into official residence in Aso Rock two months after inauguration

The Nigerian president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has finally moved into the presidential residence in Aso Rock, Abuja, months after his inauguration as Nigeria president.

Since his inauguration on May 29, 2023 the president has been operating from his private residence in Asokoro, as his official residence in Asorock was undergoing renovation since April.

It is important to remember that prior to leaving office, President Muhammadu Buhari and his family temporarily resided in the Glass House, which is typically used as a transit accommodation, due to renovations being conducted on the primary residence.

However, recent reports from TheCable indicate that President Tinubu has now moved into the Glass House, as the renovation of the official presidential residence will not be completed until August.

A source within the presidency shared with the news outlet that the reason for Tinubu’s move was due to public complaints regarding traffic congestion caused by road closures and restrictions.

The source said: “He finally moved on Sunday night because of public complaints over the traffic congestion around his movements.

“He too was unhappy with the discomfort to the public, but the official residence is still not ready, so he decided to move to the Glass House.”
