The Real Reason Peter Cech is Leaving Chelsea

It’s been reported that former Chelsea goalkeeper, Peter Cech who recently returned to the club as Technical and Performance Advisor, has vacated the position today.

The former Czech international was appointed in the position way back in 2019, while Frank Lampard was still manager of the Blues.

It is now being revealed that the real reason he is leaving is over differences with new Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly over the decision to loan Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.

The media outlet disclosed that part of Cech’s decision to leave the role of Technical Advisor at Chelsea was based on how much his influence has been watered down under the new ownership.

The Chelsea legend had acted as a middle man for Chelsea managers and director Marina Granovskaia, playing a key role in a number of transfer and football decisions that happened with the team.

His most notable influence was when he recommended goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to the club and to former teammate, Frank Lampard.

But Granovskaia’s departure last week from her role in the club, has seen new owner, Boehly take on the role of ‘interim sporting director’.

And from all indications, it appears both the American and manager Thomas Tuchel will now be the ones predominantly running Chelsea and also be in charge of transfer decisions.

This has very much left Peter Cech sidelined, almost without a role in the club.
