Report: Lautaro Martinez keen on joining Chelsea

Lautaro Martinez, a member of the 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning team, is reportedly eager to join Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea, according to reports.

The Argentinian striker is said to be keen on the prospect of working with his compatriot Pochettino at the London club.

Football Insider has revealed that Martinez holds a desire to play under Pochettino, as the Chelsea manager has expressed admiration for the Inter Milan forward. Martinez’s playing style, which revolves around high pressing and intensity, aligns well with Pochettino’s tactical approach.

Chelsea is actively seeking to strengthen their attacking options this summer after the departure of Kai Havertz to Arsenal and Romelu Lukaku’s desire to leave the club permanently for Inter Milan. The Blues view the acquisition of a new striker as a priority for Pochettino’s squad.

Martinez, who showcased his talent at Inter Milan last season, impressed with an impressive record of 28 goals and 11 assists in 57 appearances across all competitions. At 25 years old, he has proven himself as a prolific goalscorer and a valuable asset to his team.

Currently, Martinez still has three years remaining on his contract with Inter Milan. According to Transfermarkt, he is valued at €85 million, highlighting the level of quality and potential he possesses.

Chelsea’s interest in Martinez signifies their ambition to bolster their attacking firepower as they aim to compete at the highest level. By pursuing a player of Martinez’s caliber, the club aims to maintain their competitive edge and build a formidable squad under Pochettino’s guidance.

As negotiations and discussions progress, Chelsea will hope to strike a deal that will see Martinez donning the blue jersey at Stamford Bridge.

If successful, the arrival of the talented Argentinian forward would significantly enhance Chelsea’s attacking options and provide Pochettino with a valuable asset as they seek to challenge for major honors in the upcoming season.
