Real Madrid v Man United: Never a friendly -- Jude Bellingham

Real Madrid vs. Manchester United picked up hostilities recently in what was a pre-season friendly, but judging by the on pitch bust up between Jude Bellingham and Man United’s Lisandro Martinez, the friendly was as much a competitive as a Champions League final could be.

The pre-season friendly which took place in both clubs’ USA tour that was played at NRG Stadium in Texas featured the former Borussia Dortmund star in a heated exchange with the former Ajax man in a game that saw Real Madrid come out the victor.

Speaking on the bust up between the pair in the pre-season tie, Jude Bellingham explained;

“The little tiff with [Lisandro] Martinez is one of those things. He is a brilliant player.

“I came in at half-time and I was f’ing this and f’ing that. But when he came over to wish me all the best when he came off, I really respected it. I know what goes on the pitch stays on the pitch.”

Jude Bellingham goes on to recognize Martinez’ competitive nature and remark on his ball playing prowess that was displayed in the friendly fixture.

He added, “He is a great competitor and a great player. Just like me, he wants to win. Sometimes it spills over. That is part of the game. I am really respectful.”

Bellingham recently joined Madrid from Dortmund this summer in a transfer saga that had Merseyside club, Liverpool pulling out to leave the Los Blancos the sole side aiming for the England internal’s signature.

The England international is expected to play a key role in Carlo Ancelotti’s side next season.
