This came hours after the Minister announced the postponement of subsidy removal till further notice.

Bashir, in a tweet via his official Twitter page, said the rumour making the rounds is untrue.

“There is a rumour going around that Honorable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Shamsuna Ahmad has resigned.

“The rumour is completely not true, one of the minister’s closest aides told me on phone,” he said.

Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed  is a Nigerian accountant who has been serving as Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning since 2019. At the time, President Muhammadu Buhari brought the two ministries under her as one, making her the de facto Minister of Economy.
