Premier League at the mercy of Arsenal to save the League

The ball is in Arsenal’s court now after Manchester City humiliated Burnley away at Turf Moor in Premier League season opener on Friday night.

The Cityzens overran Vincent Kompany’s side 3-0 in the first game of the 2023/24 season with Erling Haaland resuming goal scoring duties and Rodri back to hitting rockets from outside the box.

Pep Guardiola’s men quickly bounced back from the scrap loss against Arsenal in the Community Shield last Sunday, with an emphatic win away. This win takes Manchester City straight to top spot on Friday ahead of the remaining fixtures that follows on the weekend.

Manchester City now sit on 3 points and 3 goal difference ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup final versus Sevilla, before resuming Premier League hostilities versus Newcastle United at the Etihad next week Saturday.

Their closest rival last season, Arsenal will be taking on Nottingham Forest at Lunch time today to begin what pundits are hoping will become a proper title challenge this season in the Premier League.

However, other teams such as Chelsea, Manchester United and perhaps Newcastle United may not be far behind in stalling the Cityzens this season.

The consensus however still remains that Pep Guardiola’s side will continue on their dominance this season, while Haaland continues to do the damage to opposition teams.
