Power outage affects Abuja and Kogi following collapse of power station

At the moment, there are some places/areas in the Nation’s capital, Abuja, and parts of Kogi State are struggling with power outages.

These areas mentioned are experiencing total blackout due to some technical issues as they all fall under the coverage of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

TopNaija gathered that the AEDC decided to notify the residents in Zamani Estate, Abacha Road Mararaba, Ruga Juli, and other locations in Abuja about the tecnicality.

According to them, there appears to be a technical problem on the 33kv feeder k6 from AT9 Karu Transmission Station, leading to the power outage.

A statement released by the power distribution company reads; “The management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc wishes to notify its esteemed customers that there is currently a technical fault on 33kv feeder k6 from AT9 Karu Transmission Station, managed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria.”

Areas affected in Abuja include Zamani Estate, Abacha Road Mararaba, Ruga Juli, Old Karu Road, Glory Estate, and surrounding areas. The AEDC has informed that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) maintenance team is actively working to restore electricity supply to these regions and apologizes for any inconvenience caused.

Prior to this, the TCN had announced a planned maintenance on its TR3 45MVA and TR2 60MVA power transformers at the 132/33kV Okene Transmission Substation. The maintenance was scheduled to take place from 10 am to 0:3pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, affecting power supply to Okene, Kabba, Ososo, and Ikare.

Ndidi Mbah, the TCN’s spokesperson assured that normal power supply would resume to the Abuja Disco immediately after the completion of the maintenance work.
